How to Choose the Right Lash Adhesive

1) Choose by Humidity First (Most Important)

LOW HUMIDITY

Lash glue cures by moisture in the air. Lower humidity slows curing, so low-humidity formulas are built to cure reliably when air is dry.

  • Low humidity range: generally 25%–45% RH
  • Low-humidity glue key idea: uses trace catalytic support so even minimal moisture can trigger curing
  • Great for dry seasons, air-conditioned rooms, or high-elevation areas

2) Then Choose by Dry Time / Working Style

NORMAL HUMIDITY

Within workable humidity, higher humidity = faster curing. Standard formulas perform best in typical salon humidity.

  • Standard formulas: usually best around 40%–65% RH
  • Fast-dry choices: 0.5s / 1s for speed + maximum “instant grab”
  • Slower-dry choices: ~2s for more working time and comfort (often preferred by sensitive clients or beginners)

What We Make: ECA-Based Fast-Dry Adhesives + the Role of PMMA

Our main line is Ethyl Cyanoacrylate (ECA)–based

We choose Ethyl Cyanoacrylate (ECA) because it consistently delivers the fastest curing speed and the strongest instant grab — the performance lash pros want for fast-drying (0.5s / 1s) and long-retention (up to 8 weeks*).

Why PMMA is included

Pure ECA is typically very low-viscosity (water-like), highly flowable, and clear. We include PMMA in every formula to adjust viscosity and rheology — to ensure stable pickup and a consistent glue bead.

  • ✅ Better pickup: helps you pick up the right amount of adhesive consistently
  • ✅ Bead control: supports a stable droplet instead of overly runny flow
  • ⚠️ Too much PMMA: may slow cure, increase aging/thickening, and raise nozzle clogging risk

That’s why we use PMMA at an optimized level for the best balance of speed, consistency, and usability.

Why We Don’t Blend Alkoxy into Our Fast-Dry Line

Performance target: 0.5–1.0s curing + maximum instant grab

Alkoxy cyanoacrylates are often associated with lower fumes and a longer working time, but they generally cure slower and provide less “instant grab” compared with Ethyl CA. Since our fast-dry products are engineered specifically for 0.5–1.0 seconds and strong retention for lash pros, adding Alkoxy would typically shift performance away from our target (slower cure and softer grab).

For consistency and repeatability, we keep our fast-dry / long-retention line ECA-based only.

Low-Fume / Sensitive Option (Methoxy-Based)

If comfort is your priority

If you prioritize low odor and comfort, we offer a Sensitive Glue using a methoxy-based system plus PMMA for viscosity control.

Quick clarification for beginners: “Alkoxy” is a general category (cyanoacrylates with an alkoxy group). If someone asks for an “alkoxy formula,” it’s best to specify which type — the most common are methoxy and ethoxy. Our Sensitive Glue is methoxy-based.

  • Dry time: around ~2 seconds
  • Retention: typically up to 3–4 weeks (depends on humidity, prep, technique)
  • Designed for: a gentler experience and more working time

To ensure reliable performance in low humidity, low-humidity adhesives are formulated with trace catalytic support to help accelerate curing. This is the key difference between low-humidity adhesives and standard formulas.

  • Low-humidity target: ~25%–45% RH
  • Standard target: ~40%–65% RH
  • Adhesives may work outside these ranges, but cure speed changes with humidity.

The Curing Mechanism of Eyelash Extension Adhesives (Full Chemistry)

Eyelash extension adhesives are typically based on cyanoacrylate (CA) monomers, a class of fast-curing acrylate esters known for strong adhesion and rapid polymerization. The curing process is a moisture-triggered chain reaction.

1) Chemical Composition and Reactive Nature

The primary component is cyanoacrylate — most commonly ethyl cyanoacrylate (used in our fast-dry line). These monomers are stabilized in the liquid state by trace acidic inhibitors to suppress premature polymerization during storage. In the bottle, CA exists in a metastable balance. Once exposed to moisture in air or on the substrate (natural lash), polymerization begins.

2) Moisture-Initiated Anionic Polymerization (Chain-Growth)

The polymerization mechanism is typically anionic chain-growth polymerization, initiated by nucleophiles.

Initiation: trace water (H₂O) in the environment can generate hydroxide ions (OH⁻). These anions attack the electron-deficient carbon in the cyanoacrylate double bond (activated by –CN and –COOR groups), initiating polymerization.

Propagation: the reactive anionic site attacks additional monomers, producing a linear polymer chain rapidly (often reaching solidification within seconds).

3) Influence of Humidity on Curing Kinetics

  • High Humidity (>65% RH): curing can become too fast; risk of blooming (whitening), weaker bond if the glue flashes before proper placement, and stronger odor perception.
  • Low Humidity (<40% RH): insufficient moisture slows initiation; curing delays and bonding efficiency can drop unless using low-humidity formula or humidification.
  • Optimal ranges: Standard: 40–65% RH • Low-humidity: 25–45% RH

4) Role of Surface Chemistry (pH Effects)

Surface pH can influence curing:

  • Slightly alkaline surfaces: can accelerate polymerization (more nucleophilic activity).
  • More acidic surfaces: can slow curing (neutralizing anionic initiators).

This is why some primers are designed to support consistent curing kinetics. (Primer performance depends on formula and pH.)

Freshness Check + Smart Stocking Tips

✨ Tip for Checking Your Glue (Before Opening)

Opened glue cannot be returned or refunded — but it’s easy to check freshness before opening. Just give the sealed bottle a gentle shake:

  • If you hear a clear, watery sound, the glue is fresh.
  • If the sound feels thicker / less fluid, the glue may have started to age.

Over time, adhesive naturally becomes more viscous, and the sound becomes softer and less fluid.

💡 Extra Advice (Don’t Over-Stock)

For best performance, we don’t recommend stocking too much glue at once. Buy enough for about 1–2 months of use, then reorder as needed — this helps ensure you always work with the freshest adhesive.

  • Every bottle has an EXP date printed on the bottom.
  • We store adhesives in bulk at 5–10°C (41–50°F) to maintain freshness.
  • After delivery, storage conditions may vary, so real shelf life can be shorter than the printed EXP if storage is not ideal.

How to Store Your Lash Adhesive Correctly

1) Unopened Glue — Long-Term Storage

  • Store in a cool, low-temperature environment: 5–10°C (41–50°F).
  • This slows aging and keeps glue fresh until you are ready to use it.

2) Opened Glue — After First Use

  • Do not return opened glue to cold storage.
  • Moving between cold and warm environments causes condensation (water droplets), which can trigger premature curing inside the bottle.
  • Store opened glue at stable room temperature: ideally 15–20°C (59–68°F).
  • Use within 4–6 weeks after opening for best performance.

3) Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • ❌ Storing opened glue in the fridge (condensation → thickening/curing)
  • ❌ Leaving glue in direct sunlight or near heat sources (rapid aging)
  • ❌ Stockpiling too many bottles (risk of thickening/expired inventory)

Best practice: store in the original pouch with desiccant, sealed tightly — or in an airtight container with desiccant inside.

Tips to Prevent Nozzle Clogging

  • When dispensing, hold the bottle nozzle down and quickly squeeze out one drop.
  • Immediately turn the nozzle upright before releasing pressure (helps draw adhesive back into the bottle).
  • Wipe the nozzle clean with a dry tissue (never damp).
  • Close the cap tightly and store sealed with desiccant.

If the glue seems “dry” on the second use, it may be a clogged nozzle. If you still hear liquid inside when shaking, the glue is likely fine — carefully clear the nozzle with a suitable pin tool.

Black vs Clear vs Colored Adhesives

The raw adhesive base is naturally clear.

  • Black glue: colored using carbon black.
  • Clear / Invisible glue: no carbon black — shows the original clear base color.
  • Other colors: possible using suitable dyes (popular: baby pink, purple, etc.).
